Coraline by Neil Gaiman: Horror Comes from The Other Side
February 5, 2009
Coraline is the horror literature for the children, and it's written by Neil Gaiman (who else). The book is illustrated by Dave McKean and graphic novel is illustrated by P. Craig Russell.
Coraline moves with his family in to the new house, where is the door which don't lead anywhere. Behind the door is only a brick wall. One day the wall is gone, and the other side Coraline finds her "other family", who whishes to take her with their own daughter. "Other parents" look the same as real parents, but the all other side people has creepy black buttons in their eyes.
The story is horrible, and gripping. Tension arises numerous warnings and prohibitions, which - of course - are being violated. Coraline reminds a little bit Stephen King's stories It and The Library Policeman.
Coraline movie is starred by talented young actress Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher (from the Desperate Housewives and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman TV series) and Jennifer Saunders (from the British Absolutely Fabulous TV series). The movie collectibles, especially shirts and The Skeleton Keys, are very popular.
