Hayao Miyazaki (b. Jan. 5, 1941) is japanese mangaka and film director. Miyazaki's first published manga was Puss in Boots (Nagakutsu wo Haita Neko) in 1969. Miyazaki's worldwide best known manga is seven volumes long Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, published in 1982-1994. Anime in the same title appeared in 1984.
Miyazaki is a surprising skillful artist. The drawings are beautiful and fantastic. In the style has echoes from the past, when readers were enticed spectacular art. Modern mangas mostly bases only to characters and the story. Ironically, that one of the most prestigious mangaka once burned his works and ended drawing, because he felt totally non-giftet.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is set to the future. It is a epic story, which discusses the relationship of the human and nature. A thousand years ago people lived in the industrial heyday, until suddenly all was destroyed in seven days. Since then, mankind has had to fight for the ever-shrinking space with giant bugs and toxic forests.
Nothing has been learned yeat: people still dig forgotten technology from the ground, motors, flying apparatuses and war machines. Above the tiny Valley of the Wind is hanging many kinds of threats: war, traitors, schemers and the inevitable devastation of existing world.
