Iron Man appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 in March 1963, and the first appearance of well-known "Golden Avenger"-armor was in Tales of Suspense #48 in December 1963. Iron Man's own comic book The Invincible Iron Man #1 started May 1968.
Tony Stark is a handsome and successful businessman who has everything: fast cars, fast women and expensive suits. But he is also Iron Man, the upstanding defender of the State. Tony Stark have a heart desease, and the harness of Iron Man keeps him alive. Tony Stark was the first comic hero, who had alcohol problems.
Iron Man is a techno comic from the time before home computers. In the Silver Age series the armor works in hidden buttons, and transistors are great invention. Sometimes Iron Man's batteries are so empty, that there is no power enough to cardiac pacemaker, but the armor still share an electric shocks to those who try to disarm his helmet. Has Tony Stark's cables went short circuit?

In director Jon Favreau's Iron Man movie (2008) the villain was Iron Monger, who first appeared in Iron Man #200 November 1985. Iron Man 2 (2010) is starred by Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Mickey Rourke (Ivan Vanko/Whiplash), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Olivia Munn (Melina Vostokoff/Iron Maiden) and Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine). Iron Man appeares also in The Avengers movie which premiere is 15th July 2011.
