Jean Giraud (b. May 8, 1938) is a French comic and cartoon artist. He uses pseudonym Moebius in his fantasy and science fiction works. As a Jean Giraud his most famous work is western comic series Blueberry with the writer Jean-Michel Charlier. He has also drawn one volume XIII series in 2007.
Moebius is known by his weird and erotic art, including picture book Angel Claw (Griffes d'Ange, 1994) with the writer Alejandro Jodorowsky.
The Airtight Garage Of Jerry Cornelius (Le Garage Hermétique de Jerry Cornelius) published in French Métal Hurlant in 1976-1980, and American Heavy Metal one year behind. At the same period wordless Arzach also published in Métal Hurlant and Heavy Metal in four short stories.
His biggest project L'Incal (written by Alejandro Jodorowsky) started in Métal Hurlant on 1981, and continued to 1988. In States Moebius could be best known from the Silver Surfer two part mini-series with Stan Lee in 1988. Iron Man wallpapers, posters, model kits, resin statues, vinyl figures and busts based to Moebius's art are very popular.
