John Carter of Mars

John Carter of Mars is created by writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. First John Carter novel A Princess of Mars was published in 1912, at the same year as a Tarzan of the Apes. Novels are also known as a Barsoom series.
John Carter, Warlord of Mars comic book series were published by Marvel Comics. Series started in June 1977 and ended in October 1979 (28 issues). Writers were Marv Wolfman and Peter B. Gillis, artists Gil Kane, Carmine Infantino and Larry Hama. John Carter has also appeared in DC's Weird World comic book #1-#9, in 1972.
Dell Comics adapted the first three John Carter novels in Four Color Comics #375, #437 and #488 in 1952-1953. Artist were Jesse Marsh. Stories were later reprinted as a John Carter of Mars #1-#3. The first four novels were also published as two comic books in 1970-1972 at Czechoslovakia. Adaptation was made by Vlastislav Toman, art is by Jiří Veškrna and Milan Ressel. Stories were reprinted in 2001 in the Velká Kniha Komiksů I comic book. (Continues below.)
John Carter Sunday newspaper comic strip was an adaptation of A Princess of Mars. Series were written and illustrated by Burroughs's son, John Coleman Burroughs. He also illustrated
David Innes of Pellucidar comic books. John Carter runned in four Sunday newspapers, in
The Chicago Sun from 7 December 1941 to 28 March 1943 (69 weeks).
