Masters of the Universe (or MOTU) action figure series is created by Mattel company. First Masters of the Universe toys appeared with minicomics 1981. Toys were including He-Man and Skeletor. Those days Masters of the Universe look liked more Conan the Barbarian, but later many details were stolen from Star Wars. Masters of the Universe minicomics came back in 1985–1987.
In 1986 Marvel Comics started Marvel Star comic series. Under the title appeared also a double-length one-shot adaptation of the Masters of the Universe live-action film (1987). Movie was starred by Dolph Lundgren (He-Man), Courteney Cox (Julie Winston), Frank Langella (Skeletor), Meg Foster (Evil-Lyn), Jon Cypher (Duncan/Man-at-Arms) and Chelsea Field (Teela).
The New Adventures of He-Man runned in 1989–1992. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe relaunched in 2002, and Masters of the Universe Classics toyline started in 2008.
