Secret Invasion by Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu, is a 8 issue limited series (plus huge amount tie-ins in other comic books, including the New Avengers). Secret Invasion is published from April 2008 to December 2008, by Marvel Comics, and it was best selling comic book series in United States in 2008.
The Skrull's are evil, shapeshifting alien species, whose first appeared in Fantastic Four #2, January 1962. Skrull's are created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
In Secret Invasion the Skrull Princess Veranke (quite good looking Skrull for change) infiltrates to Earth with Skrull army. Number of Skrulls takes part in the operation to destroy the famous superheroes and take their places. Spider-Woman, Elektra, Thor Girl, She-Thing, Invisible Woman, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Nick Fury, Wolverine, X-Men, Spiderman and many others fall into victim of this matriarchal attack. Marvel Universe goes upside down, so many long-time characters gets killed.
The galactic story Secret Invasion: War Of Kings brings the Starjammers, Shi'ar, Krees, Inhumans, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova and Darkhawk into the stage. Storys tie-ins started from the Guardians of the Galaxy #7 (Nov. 2008) and continued including in X-Men: Kingbreaker (Feb. - May 2009, 4 issue mini-series). The first issue of the War of Kings limited series was released in March 2009.
