Spider-Man is one of the world's most popular superheroes. The popularity does not base to the battle scenes, but the soap opera. Peter Parker has his burden overcaring Aunt May, constant money problems and the swarm of women, who all wish to be with him. Spider-Man fans remember the story The Night Gwen Stacy Died (The Amazing Spider-Man #121-122, June-July 1973). It is very rare in comics that significant character really dies and never come back.

When artist Steve Ditko was fall out with scriptwriter Stan Lee, to new Spider-Man artist was chosen John Romita, who has previously drawn romantic cartoons. Spider-Mans visual look has changed forever. Romita's style influenced the whole superhero comic development, not least because of the pow and krak-sound effects came also to Spider-Man. Also Frank Miller has drawn Spider-Man in his early years.

Spider-Man's most unforgettable battles were against to Green Goblin (first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #14 July 1964). Director Sam Raimi returned to same issue in Spiderman films. Other memorable Spider-Man enemies are Venom (Amazing Spider-Man #299, April 1988), Doctor Octopus (Amazing Spider-Man #3, July 1963), Kingpin (Amazing Spider-Man #50, July 1967), Lizard (Amazing Spider-Man #6, Nov. 1963), Hobgoblin (Amazing Spider-Man #238, March 1983), Sandman (Amazing Spider-Man #4, Sept. 1963) and sexy Black Cat (The Amazing Spider-Man #194, July 1979).

But it is not always been so. 1970's, the horror themes and the political realism rose also to superhero comics. Spider-Man's perhaps the oddest villain has been a Spider-Mobile, small cabriolet which is able to run along the wall. First appearance of Spider-Mobile was in Amazing Spider-Man #130.

The Ultimate Spider-Man stories tells old stories in new way. Characters and the plot has been updated suitable for the young readers. Spider-Man has become anorectic and big headed like the Bratz-dolls. However, the plot is much similar with as in the original stories. Women, allways the women...

First Spider-Man movie was made in 1977. TV series started in 1978, and the next movie Spider-Man Strikes Back came in same year. Spider-Man was played Nicholas Hammond. Spider-Man animation film series has made continously from the year 1967. In Japan Toei no Supaidâ-Man live-action tv-series started in 1978.

Sam Raimi's first Spiderman movie appeared in 2002, starring Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man/Peter Parker), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson), Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin/Norman Osborn), James Franco (Harry Osborn) and J.K. Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson). Second Spiderman movie came in 2004. The Villain was Doctor Otto Octavius, so called Doc Ock, starring Alfred Molina. In third Spiderman (2007) movie villains were Sandman/Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom/Eddie Brock (Topher Grace). Bryce Dallas Howard played Gwen Stacy.
