In 1966 Gene Roddenberry got an idea: to make a science-fiction TV series about spaceship USS Enterprise, which boldly goes where no one has gone before. Star Trek comic book series runned in 1967-1978 (#1-#61), until the publisher changed from Gold Key to Marvel Comics (1979-1981, #1-#18). Since then, many publishers has published Star Trek comics, incluging DC Comics, Wildstorm and Tokyopop (Next Generation manga). The first issues has photographic covers. Quite camp nowadays, but in high prices.
Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who played a Spock in original TV series and movies, created the characters and concept to Primortals science-fiction comic series in 1995. 24 issues came out until series ended in 1997. One of the writers were Kate Worley (Omaha the Cat Dancer series) and artist Scot Eaton (X-Men: Messiah Complex). Walter Koenig (USS Enterprise navigator Pavel Chekov) related to Raver (1993) and William Shatner Tek World (1992-1995).
Star Trek: Countdown written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, art by David Messina started in January 2009. Star Trek: Countdown is the official four issue movie preview.
