The Darkness is created by David Wohl, Marc Silvestri and Garth Ennis. Character first appeared in Witchblade #10, 1996, and own comic book at the same year. Later comic book cancelled, but started again in 2002.
The Darkness Alter ego is Jackie Estacado, who is the assassin of the Franchetti mob family. Other characters in series are Witchblade, Angelus, Magdalena and Appolonia Franchetti. The Darkness has appeared in crossovers including with Lara Croft, Superman, The Hulk, Batman, Vampirella, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange and Wolverine.

The Darkness console game is available to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Darkness movie is planned to make in near future, propably after the Witchblade movie 2010.
