Uncanny X-Men #500 (July 2008) by Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction, artists Greg Land and Terry Dodson (etc). Number 500 is the whole new start for The X-Men! X-Men has moved to San Francisco after the Messiah Complex. They have a new Headquarters and Cyclops is the leader now on. Magneto, The Sentinels and Master Mole (first appeared in X-Men #15, December 1965) have new plans for the future of the mutants and mankind.
The story has returned to the golden age of the X-Men, when Chris Claremont wrote it and John Byrne was responding by art. Many new plotlines will start here, so if you want to understand to the X-Men in the future, you need this double-sized anniversary issue!
