Whiteout is created by writer Greg Rucka (JLA: 52) and artist Steve Lieber. Small Oni Press published four issue mini-series in 1998. Whiteout should not be confused with Marvel Comics Whiteout-character (created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri, first appeared in X-Men #249, Oct. 1989).
In the story U.S. Marshall Carrie Stetko has three days time to catch the the murderer in Antarctica, before the arctic winter begins. The mass murderer hunt culminates to fight in the middle of the snow storm, whiteout.
The director Dominic Sena's movie Whiteout premiere was in September 2009, starring Kate Beckinsale (Van Helsing, Underworld) and Gabriel Macht (The Spirit, The Good Shepherd).
